West Coast Roadtrip

DAY ONE- Phoenix to Vegas

Today marked the start of our much-anticipated road trip from Phoenix to Las Vegas! The drive was smooth, and the changing desert landscapes were mesmerizing. We checked into Caesar’s Palace, and wow—the room was everything I’d hoped for: spacious, luxurious, and oozing with Vegas flair.

The Food: 

But the real highlight of the day? Dinner at the Bacchanal Buffet. It’s my favorite spot in Vegas, and it did not disappoint. From fresh seafood to decadent desserts, every bite was a delight. I definitely ate way more than I should have, but that’s part of the Vegas experience, right?

I love Bacchanal Buffet so much that I have literally driven five hours just for the food—and it’s always worth it!

The variety is unmatched, from fresh seafood to perfectly cooked meats, decadent desserts, and everything in between. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that keeps me coming back. If you’re a foodie like me, Bacchanal is a bucket-list destination. Trust me, it’s worth every mile! 

The Room 

Caesar’s Palace offers an incredible stay, and I was thoroughly impressed with my experience.

• Room: Spacious and luxurious, with plenty of room to unwind and relax. Every detail felt premium and well-thought-out.

• Pool View: The view was stunning, overlooking the iconic pool area. It added such a refreshing and vibrant vibe to the stay.

• Bathroom: Huge and elegant, featuring a large shower and luxurious finishes. It truly felt like a spa experience in the comfort of my room.

Overall, Caesar’s Palace delivers on its reputation for luxury and comfort. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to elevate their Vegas experience! 

DAY TWO: Vegas to Reno

Today was a long and uneventful drive from Las Vegas to Reno. Unfortunately, Reno didn’t leave much of an impression. We stayed at The Row, and I can’t say I was a fan. The room was supposedly “updated,” but it still felt outdated and lacked charm.

To make matters worse, the casino had an odd odor that lingered and made the whole experience feel less than pleasant. Safe to say, I’m counting down the hours until we move on to the next destination. Here’s hoping tomorrow is a lot better! 

DAY THREE: 

Reno to Klamath Falls

What a change of pace today! The drive from Reno to Klamath Falls was absolutely stunning. The cold, foggy mountain roads made for a picturesque journey, with mist curling through the trees and patches of snow dusting the landscape. It felt like driving through a winter postcard.

We even got to see actual snow, which was such a treat! The crisp air and serene scenery turned the drive into a real adventure. It’s amazing how nature can completely transform your mood and energy. 

Klamath Falls to Eugene

Today’s drive from Klamath Falls to Eugene was an adventure through a landscape straight out of a nature documentary. The two-lane highway wound its way through endless trees, snowy curves, and picturesque views. Along the way, we passed several lakes, including Lookout Lake—and yes, I found Waldo (Waldo Lake)!

The area is dotted with national forests and campgrounds, which had me daydreaming about getting an RV and a boat to explore all the hidden gems off the beaten path. Then I remembered how much I love having cell phone reception and decided maybe camping isn’t quite my thing.

The highlight of the drive? Definitely the tunnel! It added a fun, unexpected twist to an already beautiful journey. 

 Eugene to Portland

And just like that, we’re back to a “normal” highway with reliable cell phone service. While I’ll miss the breathtaking scenery from earlier today, this stretch of the trip felt much more my speed, minus the traffic!

Let’s face it—I’m definitely a city girl. The convenience, the buzz of activity, and, of course, easy access to Starbucks! First stop in Portland: a much-needed coffee fix. ☕ Looking forward to seeing what the city has in store! 

The Food - Portland Burger

This mouth-watering burger “Making Christmas” at Portland Burger is the limited-time Burger of the Week! Featuring a juicy, meaty patty, tender brisket, crisp lettuce, and a crunchy onion ring, it’s perfectly finished with a sweet and tangy cranberry-aioli. Don’t miss out on this flavor-packed creation—available for a short time only! These tater tots are a perfect snack or side dish, seasoned generously with Cajun seasoning that adds a flavorful kick. The crunch on the outside is just right—not too hard, but satisfying enough to give each bite a delightful texture. Inside, the tots are fluffy and soft, creating a perfect contrast with the crispy exterior. 

DAY FOUR  - Exploring Portland

Mill Ends Park – The World’s Smallest “Park”

Don’t blink, or you’ll miss it—literally! We drove by Mill Ends Park three times before we finally spotted it. At just 24 inches in diameter, this “park” is really more of a tiny circle of earth where a tree used to stand.

Today, it featured a festive nutcracker in the hole, which added a playful touch. It’s not exactly what comes to mind when you think of a park, but its quirky charm makes it worth the hunt. A fun, quick stop that truly embodies Portland’s unique personality! 

Powell’s City of Books

After visiting the smallest park in the world, we made our way to Powell’s City of Books, the largest independent bookstore in the world. It spans an entire city block and houses over a million books, including new, used, and rare editions. Whether you’re a book lover or not, it’s definitely worth a visit. My favorite part was the rare book room, where you need a pass to view some of the oldest and most valuable books in the store. There’s something special about the smell of all those books—it’s a scent that’s hard to describe both nostalgic and comforting. 

DAY FIVE- More Exploring of Portland 

Walking Along the Portland Waterfront

This morning, the sun made a brief but welcome appearance, making it the perfect time for a walk along the Portland waterfront. The crisp air and beautiful views set the tone for a relaxing start to the day.

We saw so many landmarks, including the Battleship U.S.S. Oregon, the Stark Street Ferry Site, Governor Tom McCall Waterfront Park, and the statue of the founders of Portland. The area was alive with geese, adding a touch of nature to the urban scenery.

The flood wall was an interesting sight, showcasing the city’s effort to protect against rising waters. And, of course, no morning walk is complete without a Starbucks stop! A great way to kick off the day in Portland. 

Walking 23rd Ave

A food lover’s delight—this place is a must-see! I could easily spend all day walking the streets lined with amazing boutique shops and diverse restaurants. Even the locals recommend this as a hot spot. I’m in food heaven, savoring every moment of it! The atmosphere is vibrant, and the options are endless, making it the perfect place to indulge and explore. 

Portland Spirit Cruise

We capped off the afternoon with a relaxing Portland Spirit Cruise —a perfect way to unwind after exploring 23rd Ave. Unfortunately, my camera died, but no worries—hubby stepped in and captured it all with videos and pictures! We chose the sightseeing package, saving a little since we were still full from our earlier foodie adventure. Instead, we indulged in a couple of delicious drinks onboard.

The boat itself was a highlight, with three distinct decks, each offering its own unique charm:

• The Bottom Deck: This cozy, laid-back floor featured tables, live piano entertainment, and a bar. The atmosphere was perfect for those wanting to enjoy a meal while soaking in the serene ambiance.

• The Second Deck: This level offered additional tables and a stage with a piano and Cinnamon Bear’s iconic chair. Speakers played an audio guide, narrating the fascinating sights visible through the windows. A fun fact for families: Cinnamon Bear only appears on the breakfast cruises, so we didn’t catch him this time. There was also a second bar on this floor, though it was closed during our trip.

• The Top Deck: Made for sightseeing, this open deck offered an incredible 360° view of the surrounding beauty. It was also home to the gift shop and the wheel room—aka the bridge—where we got to meet the captain. The best part? Pretending to steer the boat, which made the experience even more fun and interactive! 

DAY SIX - Portland to Seattle

And just like that, we’re back on the road! Today’s journey takes us from Portland to Seattle. It’s always exciting heading to a new city, and I can’t wait to see what Seattle has in store. Here’s to more adventures, great food, unforgettable memories, and spreading holiday cheer. Happy Holidays!

DAY SEVEN - Christmas in Seattle

Spending Christmas in Seattle has been a heartwarming experience. I’m cherishing the time with family, enjoying the festive vibes, and soaking in all the holiday magic. Wishing everyone a blessed and safe holiday filled with love, joy, and wonderful memories.

DAY EIGHT - Shop Till You Drop in Seattle

Two malls and several stores later… I’m officially exhausted! Today was all about shopping and exploring, and it was such a fun family day. We even tried a bakery and indulged in some classic mall food.

It’s always a good time when you’re making memories with loved ones, but I think I’ll be skipping the shopping bags tomorrow.

DAY NINE - Day Trip to Leavenworth, WA

Today, we took a day trip to Leavenworth to visit the famous German Christmas Town. It was an all-day adventure, with more time spent in the car than exploring the town itself. The weather was cold and wet, and the little shops were packed with both locals and tourists.

While it was fun to experience the festive atmosphere and watch the kids play in the snow, I’m not sure I’d make the trip again. Still, it was a unique holiday adventure, and I’m glad we went! 

DAY TEN - Relaxing in Seattle

After so many days on the go, today was all about slowing down and enjoying the simple things. A home-cooked meal, a quick stop at the bakery, and a refreshing margarita made for the perfect relaxing day. Watching the kiddos bowl was the cherry on top—fun and laughter all around.

Sometimes the best memories are made on the quiet days. 

DAY ELEVEN - Family Day

Today was our last day with family before hitting the road again tomorrow, and we made the most of it! We spent the day at the Family Fun Center, enjoying games, laughter, and quality time together.

One of the sweetest moments? Watching the teenagers generously give all their tickets to the little kids—it was such a thoughtful gesture and made the day even more special.

It’s always hard to say goodbye, but these moments will be cherished forever. 

DAY TWELVE - Seattle to Eugene – Home of the Ducks

Back on the road again! We got a late start so we could enjoy one more home-cooked meal and spend a little more time with family before heading out. The sun made an appearance, and we were treated to a stunning sunset during the drive.

Tonight, we’re staying at a Tru by Hilton, and it’s our first time staying at a Tru. The vibe is modern and chic, with thoughtful touches like work areas, a pool table, and a cozy lounge. It’s a great place to unwind after a day of travel.

DAY THIRTEEN - Eugene to Napa

Another day spent on the road as we make our way south, leaving Oregon behind and heading into California wine country. The drive was long, but the excitement of ringing in the New Year in beautiful Napa kept us going.

Can’t wait to see what adventures await tomorrow as we welcome a new year. 

DAY FOURTEEN - Exploring Napa & Vino Bello Resort

Happy New Year! 🎉 Today was all about starting 2025 in style with an unforgettable Napa experience. We explored an amazing winery, soaking in the scenic vineyard and savoring incredible wines.

We’re staying at the Vino Bello Resort, and it’s absolutely perfect—luxurious yet cozy, with beautiful surroundings and great amenities. It’s the perfect base for a relaxing wine country escape.

Here’s to a day of good wine, good vibes, and a bright year ahead. Cheers to 2025! 

DAY FIFTEEN - More Exploring of Napa and the Resort

Today was all about soaking up every last bit of Napa’s charm. We spent the morning exploring

more of Napa. This region truly never disappoints—every corner feels like a postcard!

We spent the evening at Vino Bello Resort, nestled inside the Meritage Resort enjoying its cozy vibes and fantastic amenities. The relaxing atmosphere made it the perfect spot to unwind.

It’s been another beautiful day in wine country, and I’m already thinking about the next time I’ll return. 

The Resort - Vino Bello at Meritage Spa

This resort is truly exceptional and ranks in my top 5 places to visit! The spacious, luxury rooms provide the perfect retreat. You don’t even need to leave the property—it offers a bowling alley, multiple bars, wine tasting rooms, and a variety of restaurants. With a convenient evening shuttle to downtown and its location just 30 minutes from numerous wineries, it’s the ultimate Napa Valley getaway. 

The Food at the Resort - Ember Steak

Known for “The Library,” is renowned for its aged-on-site meats, which are said to enhance flavor. Their biggest seller is the filet, while the ribeye is a staff favorite.

Ember Steam delivers an unforgettable dining experience, with perfectly aged meats, indulgent sides, and exceptional service. The ribeye alone is worth the visit.  

My favorite Winery - Castello di Amorosa 

A stunning medieval-style castle with a Tuscan flair, it’s a must-visit for its breathtaking beauty, rich history, and unique charm. The castle features incredible views, 30 acres of vineyards, and eight levels (four underground). Built with over 200 containers of handcrafted rock, tiles, and doors shipped from Europe, it even has a drawbridge and moat. Don’t miss the amazing wines, available exclusively at the Castello. My favorite La Fantasia!!

DAY SIXTEEN -Napa to Arcadia – The Journey Home Begin

Sadly, our trip is winding down as we start the journey back. Today, we’re heading to Arcadia, and tomorrow we’ll finally be home. It’s bittersweet to see the adventure coming to an end, but I’m grateful for all the incredible memories made along the way.

Every stop, every drive, and every experience has been so special. While I’ll miss the excitement of traveling, I’m also looking forward to the comfort of home. Here’s to making the most of these final moments on the road. 

DAY SEVENTEEN - Arcadia to Phoenix – Home Sweet Home

Home sweet home! After 17 incredible days on the road, we’re finally back in Phoenix. It feels surreal to think about everything we’ve experienced—from the vibrant cities to the quiet scenic drives, the delicious food, and all the precious time spent with family.

I will definitely miss the amazing food we enjoyed along the way, especially the apple fritter sandwich at Cheryl’s on 12th, the ribeye at Ember Steak, the chicken and waffles at Screen door, and the holiday burger at Portland Burger. Each meal was a treat and added so much to this unforgettable journey.

Here’s to 17 amazing days and the promise of many more adventures (and foodie experiences) to come!
